This foundation has some good and some bad. Lets start by discussing what it claims to do. First it claims to be lightweight. …

It is a thick liquid constancy that blends out easily and indeed is lightweight.  Not light enough to forget you have foundation on, but not heavy at all. It also claims to soften fine lines and wrinkles. My fine lines are under my eyes and this product settled right in them. So I could only imagine if I had lines on any other parts of my face , it would crease like crazy. As far as the finish being a natural dewy finish,  I could agree except for the fact that the color is very red toned. Once it sets, it get a little redder and looks like a kind of unnatural color unless you counteract the color with bronzer and yellow tone high light and powder. The cover is medium to full, but I would not build it up to avoid looking like a tomato. ..lol.
When wearing this product both times, I can say it lasted allday, even though it seems to transfer easily. My best recommendation on wearing this would be to conceal and high light first, then apply foundation wear you would need coverage after that. This way you minimize the unnatural all over color, and the red tones in this foundation would actually compliment your skin tone.
I really do like the finish.  You just have to work with adjusting the color.

The packaging is a squeeze out tube. No pump, so be careful not to squirk out to much.

Overall I would only recommend this product to someone who has red in their complexion or someone who knows how to color correct to make the foundation color look more natural. I dont totally love it but I don’t hate it either.  I guess I am still on the hunt for the perfect foundation. …. so until next time.. My current foundation situation

image

As a self proclaimed makeup addict it would be uncivilized for me to own only 1 or 2 foundations. I currently have 9 liquid foundations ( not including creams, powders, tinted moisturizers, etc..). So I figured I post my foundation collection and talk about my favorites and not so favorites.  I hope this can help someone decide to pickup or skip a certain one. So let’s start with my favs….

1. Cover Girl Queen- All Day Flawless 3 in 1. Almond Glow

image

image

This foundation claims to be longlasting,  help control shine, conceal and provide full coverage . I purchased it at Walgreens for $8 or $9… under $10.. I don’t really remember. To my surprise this is one of my favorites.  It does what it says it will do all for under 10 bucks!!! It is super easy to work with and builds up wilthout being cakey.  Blends out evenly and provide good coverage with 1 pump. The issue I do have with this one is that it will transfer easily if I dont set it with powder. Though it claims to have the power of powder, for my extremely oily skin- Nothing but powder has the power of powder. ..lol.  I still will wear this one most days when I want medium full coverage, in a rush and will be wearing it all day.

2. Urban Decay- Naked Skin. 10.0

I got this from Ulta for $40. It claims to be weightless, like skin and provide medium coverage. This has slowly become my favorite. Though I have some issues with the color match.  This is my second bottle.  The first time I picked it up I got the color 9.0, which was sickly light on me. I could have made it work but it was to much effort to correct the color especially when in a hurry ( iam usually in a hurry when doing my makeup). I took it back and got 10.0 , 11.0 was too red… so though 10.0 is a closer match- it is not exact , but easier to blend in my complexion. The consistency is very watery like and makes it easy to blend out. It provides light to medium coverage. I would say it last 6 before it starts to break down and you need to touch up or take it off. I usually choose to wear this one when I wont be somewhere long.

3. Kat Von D- Lock It Tattoo- Deep 66

I got this from Sephora for $34. This foundation if FULL COVERAGE on 10. When I wear this I do not need concealer and it covers EVERYTHING with 1 pump. Just as the Naked Skin. I had an issue with color match.  There is a huge color difference between this one and the next shade up in Deep 72… it is alot redder and just not right for my complexion. Also this foundation is very creamy and dries quickly so you have to work fast and in small sections. I find using a buffer brush or beauty blender sponge the best ways to apply.  Preferably the beauty blender. Once applied with very little product you will have a flawless face and no reall need for powder.  That’s s huge deal for me because as I mentioned earlier I have extremely oily skin. It last all day until you take it off.  I wear this one days a I need or want fuller coverage. Since I use a beauty blender sponge with this product I can still manage to use this when i am in a hurry as well..

Now let’s talk about my 2nd hand choices. ..
1. Marc Jacobs Genius Gel -84 Cocoa Medium

I really want to love this as much a YouTube says I should.  This foundation is the most expensive foundation I own , at a price tag of $48. As you can see in the photo the color match is very close to my complexion. My issue with this product is that it sheer to light coverage and does build well without looking madeup and still not covering squat. I have acne scars on my cheeks and require more coverage. So if you need more than a 1 pump in a half, it will look like you are made up… not cakey so much. So though the color is a amazing match. The fact that the coverage is so light,  it is not buildable how I would like and it is expensive. This foundation is for “good skin” days or people who dont need coverage and need more even skin tone and hydration.

2.Sleek Be Beautiful Blemish Balm –

image

This foundation is $13.49 @ sleekmakeup.com. Skeek makeup is a UK drugstore brand, kind of like NYX here in the US. They have a wide range of products that accommodates all complexions including women of color. This BB Cream claims to be a primer, tinted moisturizer or concealer , with a SPF of 15. I dont know about all that, but I can say that the coverage is pretty good and it is moisturizing.  The primer part I dont think so. A primer to me is not only to help your foundation or tinted moisturizer go in smoothly,  it should also help the product stay in place an last longer.  This stuff doesn’t last long at all. When first applied it is beautiful- color and coverage.  But after a few hours it oxidizes and starts going south. I put this on if I am running somewhere real quick and just want a little coverage if my hyperpigmentation. I would say that after a 3-4 hours. …. Its over for this product.  The oils in my skin break through and it is literally sliding off my face. I think the only thing that make me like it is the initial color match and the coverage. I purchased it because I thought it could be a dupe for Nars Tinted Moisturizer.   It covers like Nars  but that’s about all it does in comparison.

3. Cover Girl Tru -D6

image

This foundation is ok. It claims to match 99% on skin tones. I cant agree with this because this color is the 2nd to the deepest color.  The deepest color they had looked very dark beige and this color can work , but I would not claim it to be my perfect color match. I got this from Walgreens for $ 10. I cant liie and say I use this foundation for any particular reason except for when I just haven’t used it and want to try it out to remind myself of how I feel about it. It last a good amount of time you can wear it to work or a decent skin day. The cover is medium.  I wouldn’t suggest that you try to build this up to a certain coverage because , like stated previously the color is a little wonky. If you layer this -it wont look natural. I tend to never use this one mostly because of my Cover Girl Queen 3 in 1 is my go to. I would not recommend this foundation to a friend that is my complexion or one that needed/wanted medium to full coverage.

This will be brief. … My Oh Heck

1. L’Oréal -True Match
2. Maybelline -Fit Me Liquid 355
3. Maybelline- Fit Me Shine Free Stick 355
Ok all of these have the same issues. No pump, oxidizes,  transfers like a beast, and melts off my face NO MATTR WHAT. The color match for all of them is pretty close but the turn into a yellowish sickly color and I cant with these…. they just over all make me look worst. The coverage is good at first , but within 2-3 hours its breaking down… nit ti mention transferring to everything I look at at. Its like the stuff jumps off my face and on to any and everything. I know that all makeup transfers to some point, but this is just ridiculous.  I will never buy these again and not sure why I still even have them in my possession. … I guess to warn you..  DONT DO IT!!! LOL

I hope this helps any one looking for some new foundations or helps you decide rather to try one if these or not. ..As always Luvs,  Thanks for reading and your support.  Do forget to follow this blog and givemelipstick on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pintrest and Instagram ❤ ❤ ❤
